The care below is green tree pythons-level guidance from our species hub, sourced to Merck Veterinary Manual — Reptiles and RSPCA — Reptiles and amphibians. How long do green tree pythons live
GTPs live 15–20 years. They are sensitive: wrong humidity causes respiratory infection and stuck sheds; incorrect perching stresses them; starvation from refusal is common in poorly set-up animals. They are not fragile by nature but unforgiving of husbandry error.
Arboreal enclosure
Use a tall enclosure (18×18×36 in / 45×45×90 cm minimum for an adult) with horizontal branches at multiple heights for the signature coil. Provide a hiding spot near a basking branch. Substrate that holds humidity (cypress, sphagnum). Secure, well-ventilated lid. They sit up, not on the floor.
