🐟 Sterbai Corydoras — Guide & Varieties

IN PRODUCTION   Fish & aquatic · 1 varieties mapped

The spotted, warm-loving cory that thrives where bronze corys would wilt.

Sterbai Corydoras (Corydoras sterbai) are about 2.5 inches (6.5 cm), dark brown with dense white spots on the head and body — one of the most attractive corys. They tolerate warmer water than many corydoras, which makes them a favorite in discus and angelfish tanks.

Like all corys they are social bottom-dwellers that need a school, a soft substrate, and their own food rather than table scraps.

How long do Sterbai Corydoras live?

Sterbai Corydoras live 5 or more years with good care. Their warmth tolerance lets them share tanks with higher-temperature community fish long-term.

What do Sterbai Corydoras eat?

Feed sinking pellets, wafers, and frozen/live foods such as bloodworms and daphnia. The mistake is relying on leftovers; give them dedicated bottom-feeding food.

Tank size and water parameters

A 20-gallon (75 L) tank suits a group of 6. Target 73-82°F (23-28°C), pH 6.0-7.5, moderate hardness, zero ammonia and nitrite, nitrate under 20 ppm. Keep in groups of 6+ on smooth sand or fine gravel.

Common mistakes with Sterbai Corydoras

Usual errors: sharp substrate damaging barbels; feeding only scraps; too small a group; and ammonia/nitrite spikes they are sensitive to.
